AI Workflow Generation

Let AI create remediation workflows from compliance gaps and risks.

AI Workflow Generation

PartnerAlly's AI can automatically generate remediation workflows from compliance gaps and risks. This saves time and ensures comprehensive remediation plans based on industry best practices.

How AI Generation Works

When you request an AI-generated workflow:

  1. Analysis - AI examines the gap or risk details
  2. Context - It considers your frameworks, organization, and existing work
  3. Planning - Creates a logical sequence of tasks
  4. Generation - Outputs a complete workflow structure
  5. Review - You review and customize before activating

AI-generated workflows are starting points. Always review and customize them for your specific situation before beginning work.

Generating from a Gap

Open the Gap

Navigate to the compliance gap you want to remediate.

Click "Generate Workflow"

Find the button in the gap actions or details panel.

Review AI Suggestions

The AI presents a proposed workflow with tasks.

Customize

Add, remove, or modify tasks as needed.

Create Workflow

Save the workflow and link it to the gap.

What AI Considers for Gaps

InputHow It's Used
Gap severityDetermines urgency and depth
Gap descriptionInforms specific tasks
Related controlIncludes control-specific steps
FrameworkApplies framework best practices
Gap typeMatches to remediation patterns

Generating from a Risk

Open the Risk

Navigate to the risk you want to mitigate.

Click "Generate Workflow"

Request AI workflow generation.

Select Treatment

Choose treatment approach (Mitigate, Transfer, etc.).

Review and Customize

Modify the generated workflow as needed.

Save and connect to the risk.

What AI Considers for Risks

InputHow It's Used
Risk severitySets workflow priority
Risk categoryApplies category-specific remediation
Treatment typeTailors tasks to treatment approach
Likelihood/ImpactDetermines depth of mitigation

Workflow Generation Options

Complexity Level

Choose how comprehensive the workflow should be:

LevelDescription
BasicEssential tasks only, quick remediation
StandardBalanced coverage with key steps
ComprehensiveThorough with review and verification

Include Review Steps

Toggle whether to include:

  • Peer review tasks
  • Management approval tasks
  • Verification checkpoints

Time Estimate

AI can suggest task durations:

  • Based on typical remediation timelines
  • Adjustable after generation
  • Creates realistic due dates

Example AI-Generated Workflows

Access Control Gap

For a gap like "No documented access review process":

Workflow: Implement Access Review Process
├── Task 1: Research access review best practices
├── Task 2: Draft access review procedure
├── Task 3: Review with IT team
├── Task 4: Obtain management approval
├── Task 5: Implement review schedule
├── Task 6: Conduct first access review
├── Task 7: Document results and update procedure
└── Task 8: Link procedure as evidence

Vendor Risk

For a risk like "Third-party data breach risk":

Workflow: Vendor Security Assessment
├── Task 1: Identify all vendors with data access
├── Task 2: Develop vendor assessment questionnaire
├── Task 3: Send questionnaire to vendors
├── Task 4: Review vendor responses
├── Task 5: Conduct follow-up on concerns
├── Task 6: Document vendor risk ratings
├── Task 7: Develop mitigation for high-risk vendors
└── Task 8: Update vendor management policy

Policy Gap

For a gap like "Incident response policy incomplete":

Workflow: Update Incident Response Policy
├── Task 1: Review current policy gaps
├── Task 2: Research IR best practices
├── Task 3: Draft policy updates
├── Task 4: Review with security team
├── Task 5: Legal/compliance review
├── Task 6: Management approval
├── Task 7: Publish updated policy
└── Task 8: Communicate to staff

Customizing Generated Workflows

Adding Tasks

After generation:

  1. Click "Add Task"
  2. Position in the workflow
  3. Set dependencies
  4. Assign owner

Removing Tasks

If a task isn't relevant:

  1. Select the task
  2. Click "Remove"
  3. Confirm deletion
  4. Dependencies update automatically

Modifying Tasks

Adjust any task:

  • Edit title and description
  • Change assignee
  • Adjust due date
  • Modify dependencies

Changing Order

Rearrange tasks:

  • Drag on canvas
  • Edit dependencies
  • AI maintains logical flow

Review AI-generated workflows carefully. The AI doesn't know your specific organizational context, team capacity, or existing processes.

Multi-Gap Workflows

Generate workflows for multiple gaps:

Select Multiple Gaps

In the gaps list, check multiple related gaps.

Click "Generate Workflow"

Choose to create a combined workflow.

Review Combined Plan

AI creates a workflow addressing all selected gaps.

Customize and Create

Adjust and save the unified workflow.

Benefits of Combined Workflows

  • Reduces duplicate effort
  • Addresses related issues together
  • More efficient than separate workflows
  • Clearer ownership

AI Workflow Quality

What AI Does Well

  • Creates logical task sequences
  • Includes often-forgotten steps
  • Applies best practices
  • Produces consistent structure

Where Human Review Is Essential

  • Team capacity and assignments
  • Organization-specific processes
  • Priority among competing work
  • Technical implementation details

Generation Settings

Configure AI behavior:

SettingOptions
Default ComplexityBasic, Standard, Comprehensive
Include ReviewsYes/No for approval steps
Time EstimatesEnable/disable duration suggestions
Auto-AssignSuggest owners based on role

Access in Settings > AI Configuration.

Feedback on Generated Workflows

Help improve AI generation:

Providing Feedback

After using a generated workflow:

  1. Click "Rate this Workflow" (if available)
  2. Indicate helpfulness
  3. Note what was missing or unnecessary
  4. Submit feedback

How Feedback Is Used

  • Improves future generations
  • Refines best practice patterns
  • Adapts to industry specifics
  • Enhances task recommendations

Common Questions

Can I regenerate if I don't like the result?

Yes:

  1. Don't save the first generation
  2. Click "Regenerate"
  3. Try different options
  4. Keep the version you prefer

Does AI consider my existing workflows?

The AI focuses on the specific gap/risk but may:

  • Avoid duplicating recent workflow patterns
  • Suggest linking to existing work
  • Note when similar workflows exist

What if the gap is unusual?

For uncommon gaps:

  • AI may generate more generic workflows
  • More customization will be needed
  • Consider using the manual builder instead

Can I save a generated workflow as a template?

Yes:

  1. Generate and customize the workflow
  2. Before activating, click "Save as Template"
  3. Use the template for similar future gaps
