Action Inbox Overview
The Action Inbox (Tasks) is where you manage and complete your compliance work. Tasks are individual action items that come from workflows, gaps, and other sources.
What Are Tasks?
Tasks are discrete, actionable items that need to be completed. Each task:
- Has a clear title and description
- Is assigned to a specific person
- Has a status (To Do, In Progress, Done)
- May have a due date and priority
- Belongs to a workflow or stands alone
Your Action Inbox is your personal to-do list for compliance work. Start each day by reviewing what's assigned to you.
Task Sources
Tasks come from several sources:

| Risks | Mitigation actions from risks |
| Manual | Standalone tasks you or others create |
Accessing Tasks
Navigate to tasks via:
- Sidebar - Click "Tasks" in the main navigation
- Dashboard - Click task-related widgets
- Keyboard - Press
GthenT - Notifications - Click task notifications
Task Properties
Each task has these attributes:

Task Status
Tasks move through these statuses:

Task Priority
Priority indicates urgency:

| High | 🟠 Amber | Important, do soon |
| Medium | 🟢 Green | Standard priority |
| Low | 🔵 Blue | Do when convenient |

From the task list, quickly:
- Complete - Mark task as done
- Start - Mark as in progress
- Reassign - Change owner
- Snooze - Temporarily hide
- Block - Mark as blocked

You receive notifications for:
- Tasks assigned to you
- Approaching due dates
- Overdue tasks
- Comments on your tasks
- Status changes to your tasks

Stay Organized
- Review inbox daily
- Update task status promptly
- Use due dates effectively
- Keep task list manageable
Be Responsive
- Acknowledge new assignments
- Mark blockers immediately
- Communicate delays
- Complete reviews promptly
Document as You Go
- Add notes during work
- Attach relevant files
- Reference other items
- Update descriptions as needed
Tasks left "In Progress" for too long become stale. If you can't complete something, mark it blocked and add a comment explaining why.
Common Questions
How do I create a standalone task?
- Go to Tasks
- Click "New Task"
- Fill in details
- Save (not linked to a workflow)
Can I assign tasks to others?
Yes, if you have permission:
- Task creators can reassign
- Workflow owners can reassign
- Admins can reassign any task
What happens to overdue tasks?
- They're highlighted in the list
- You receive notifications
- They appear in overdue reports
- Consider updating due date or completing
How do I see all my tasks?
Filter by "Assigned to Me" to see:
- All tasks assigned to you
- Across all workflows
- All statuses
