Viewing Gaps

Learn how to filter, search, and navigate the compliance gaps list.

Viewing Gaps

The Gaps page provides a comprehensive view of all compliance gaps in your organization. You can filter, search, sort, and take action on gaps from this central location.

Accessing the Gaps Page

Navigate to gaps via:

  • Sidebar - Click "Compliance Gaps" in the main navigation
  • Dashboard - Click any severity count in the gap summary card
  • Keyboard - Press G then G for quick access

Gaps List View

The default view shows gaps in a table format:

StatusCurrent status (Open, In Progress, etc.)
FrameworkAssociated compliance framework
ControlSpecific control this gap relates to
SourceDocument or assessment that identified it
CreatedWhen the gap was identified

Filtering Gaps

By Severity

Click the severity filter to show:

  • All - All severity levels
  • Critical - Only critical gaps
  • High - Only high severity gaps
  • Medium - Only medium severity gaps
  • Low - Only low severity gaps

Focus on Critical and High gaps first. These have the most impact on compliance posture and audit readiness.

By Status

Filter by gap status:

  • All Statuses - Everything
  • Open - Newly identified, unaddressed
  • In Progress - Currently being remediated
  • Resolved - Successfully addressed
  • Accepted - Risk accepted with documentation

By Framework

Select a specific framework:

  • All Frameworks - Gaps from all enabled frameworks
  • SOC 2 - SOC 2 gaps only
  • ISO 27001 - ISO 27001 gaps only
  • And any other enabled frameworks

By Source

Filter by where the gap was identified:

  • AI Analysis - From document analysis
  • Manual Entry - Manually added gaps
  • Assessment - From self-assessments
  • Audit Finding - From external audits

Searching Gaps

Use the search bar to find gaps by:

  • Gap title or description
  • Control ID or name
  • Framework name
  • Keywords in the gap details

Search Tips

  • Use quotes for exact phrases: "access control"
  • Combine with filters for precision
  • Search works across all gap fields

Sorting Options

Click column headers to sort by:

  • Severity - Critical first or Low first
  • Status - Group by status
  • Created Date - Newest or oldest first
  • Framework - Alphabetically by framework
  • Title - Alphabetically by gap title

Understanding Gap Rows

Each gap row shows:

Severity Badge

Color-coded indicator (red = critical, amber = high, green = medium, blue = low)

Gap Title

Click to open the full gap detail view

Status Badge

Current status with color coding

Framework Tag

Which compliance framework this gap relates to

Quick Actions

Hover to see available actions (view, edit, create workflow)

Bulk Actions

Select multiple gaps for bulk operations:

  1. Check the box next to each gap (or select all)
  2. Choose an action from the bulk action menu:
    • Update status
    • Assign to workflow
    • Export selection
    • Change severity

Bulk status changes are logged in the audit trail. Add notes explaining why you're changing multiple gaps at once.

Gap Counts and Summary

Above the list, you'll see:

  • Total gap count - All gaps matching current filters
  • Severity breakdown - Counts by severity level
  • Status summary - How many open, in progress, resolved

Exporting Gaps

Export the current view for reporting:

  1. Apply desired filters - Show only what you want to export
  2. Click Export - Choose CSV or PDF format
  3. Select columns - Pick which fields to include
  4. Download - File downloads to your computer

  • Audit preparation packages
  • Management reporting
  • External sharing (redact sensitive info)
  • Backup for analysis

Gaps by Document

See gaps from a specific document:

  1. Navigate to Documents
  2. Click a document to open details
  3. Select the Gaps tab
  4. View only gaps identified from that document

Gaps by Control

See gaps for a specific control:

  1. Navigate to a Framework
  2. Click a Control to open details
  3. View gaps associated with that control
  4. Understand what's missing for that requirement

Saved Views

Create saved views for common filters:

  1. Apply your filters - Set up the view you want
  2. Click "Save View" - Name your view
  3. Access later - Select from saved views dropdown

Example Saved Views

  • "Critical SOC 2 Gaps" - Critical severity, SOC 2 framework
  • "My Open Gaps" - Open status, assigned to you
  • "Audit Focus" - Framework being audited, high+ severity

Common Patterns

Triage New Gaps

Daily workflow for new gaps:

  1. Filter by "Open" status and sort by newest
  2. Review each new gap
  3. Validate severity is correct
  4. Create workflows or assign for remediation

Audit Preparation

Before an audit:

  1. Filter by the audit framework
  2. Focus on Critical and High severity
  3. Verify all open gaps have workflows
  4. Check that resolved gaps have evidence

Progress Check

Weekly progress review:

  1. Filter by "In Progress" status
  2. Check workflow completion
  3. Identify blocked or stalled gaps
  4. Follow up with assignees

Keyboard Navigation

Navigate gaps efficiently with keyboard:
